Giving birth is an extremely personal experience, and where you choose to deliver your baby matters. For some women, a hospital birth feels like the right fit; for others, a birth center offers a more organic, holistic approach to labor and delivery. If you’re considering welcoming your baby with the assistance of a midwife, check out these Seattle birth centers

Unique Options for Delivering Your Baby in A Seattle Birth Center

Center For Birth

Center for Birth serves as Seattle’s only nationally accredited, freestanding community birth center. The term “community birth center” means that the space can be used by various independent midwifery practices rather than being owned by one primary practice. The Center for Birth offers several spacious birthing suites with large beds, birthing tubs, and adjustable lighting.

Their cozy environment balances the comforts of home with the look of a luxury hotel. They offer plenty of room to move however feels most comfortable throughout your labor and delivery. Check their website to see which Seattle midwives offer the opportunity to give birth at the Center for Birth!

First Hill

Swedish First Hill Birth Center is a part of the Swedish First Hill hospital campus. But don’t let that dissuade you if you’re looking for a birth center experience! Their providers include a variety of midwives, doulas, and OB/GYNs who can help you closely follow your birth plan, regardless of how you choose to experience labor and delivery.

Their private suites include Jacuzzi tubs, birthing balls, squatting bars, Wi-Fi, and many other tools to make your experience more enjoyable. You’ll also have peace of mind knowing that hospital amenities like an operating room and a NICU are just down the hall, should you or your baby need them.

Puget Sound Birth Center

Puget Sound Birth Center is home to a team of skilled, passionate midwives who believe birth matters and should be a shared experience between partners and babies. This Seattle birth center is a cozy, comfortable space with multiple birthing suites that feature large tubs, gentle lighting, and comfy furniture for your support person(s).

You’ll deliver in the same place where you attend your prenatal appointments. Hence, you’ll be in a familiar space surrounded by familiar faces. Welcome your baby into a calming environment where you are in charge of your birth experience from start to finish.

Seattle Home Maternity

Two experienced midwives, Heather Chorley and Brooks Siegal own and operate Seattle Home Maternity. In addition to delivering at The Center for Birth (the same one mentioned here,) they also deliver at their licensed onsite birth center.

The single birth suite feels like an in-law apartment with a cozy, informal aesthetic. There’s a kitchenette, a birthing room with a deep soaking tub, a hand-held shower, as well as a living room area. This private space is an excellent option for Seattle Home Maternity clients to welcome their new babies.
