About the Lakewold Gardens Wedding Venue
The property that Lakewold Gardens calls home was first purchased in 1908 by a woman who loved gardening and immediately recognized the land’s potential. For the decades following, the Gardens changed hands several times. Still, every owner was just as dedicated to maintaining the beautiful landscaping. In the late 1980s, Lakewold Gardens transitioned to a new nonprofit, The Friends of Lakewold. The gift stipulated that the endowment meant the gardens would be protected and cared for from then on.
Today, Lakewold Gardens is a haven for anyone and everyone looking for an escape in nature. The organization’s mission is to provide “intentional encounters with the life-changing power of nature, fostering peace, creativity, and healing in our communities.” Even the weddings hosted at Lakewold Gardens exemplify the beauty of nature. They offer couples and their guests a beautiful respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
Details of the Grounds
Lakewold Gardens’ 10 acres of historic gardens are the perfect setting for a romantic wedding. Whether you envision a whimsical garden setting or a more formal outdoor space, they have the perfect place for your wedding.
Their English-inspired gardens surround a historic Georgian-style mansion overlooking Gravelly Lake. There are private bridal suites to prepare for your wedding day with your parties.
The gardens are home to various picturesque spaces, including a wisteria-covered veranda, an elegant spiral staircase, a gorgeous quatrefoil pool, and plenty of historic pathways and walkways.
The maximum number of guests accommodated at Lakewold Gardens is 80, including the bridal party. It’s the perfect place for an intimate wedding, just as focused on quality company as beautiful outdoor spaces.
Photography Opportunities
Lakewold Gardens’ beautifully landscaped grounds are perfect for elegant and color-rich wedding photos. From a gorgeous gazebo to graceful water features, plenty of beautiful backdrops exist for stunning pictures. The brick exterior of the mansion is ideal for rustic photos with historic flair, and the indoor spiral staircase is perfect for romantic portraits of you and your partner.
Wedding Details
One thing to note about Lakewold Gardens is that there isn’t much room for customization. Their packages are strictly adhered to, and parties must follow their timelines without room for flexibility.
That said, the packages they offer can meet the needs of various couples. Your rental includes white folding chairs, round tables for your reception, and 6-foot folding tables for your guest book, cake, gifts, etc. You’ll also have access to the property for one hour the day before your event and a one-hour pre-wedding day photo shoot. That shoot is great for engagement photos or a sneak-peek save-the-date card.
Lakewold Gardens has a list of four caterers from which you can choose. They offer the option to serve beer, wine, and Champagne for your party. You’ll also need to hire a day-of coordinator to ensure everything goes as planned on your wedding day.
