About The Thornewood Castle Wedding Venue
Thornewood Castle is the only genuine private castle on the West Coast. In 1907, original owners Chester and Anna Thorne built this majestic estate by purchasing a 400-year-old Elizabethan manor in England.
Then, piece by piece, the ancient manor was dismantled and shipped across the world to be included in their new Washington estate. The castle was completed in 1911, and to this day, features like the front door, oak paneling, and oak staircase are all original to that now 500-year-old English manor.

Thornewood Castle offers a variety of indoor and outdoor options for ceremonies and receptions so you can put together the true wedding of your dreams.
For an outdoor ceremony, you already have options! The Outdoor Garden gives off lush secret garden vibes, sunken and surrounded by beautiful flowers, brick walls, sculptures, and a fountain. It’s a space so effortlessly beautiful you don’t even need additional decor (though it’s always welcome.) You can also say “I do” with a waterfront ceremony overlooking American Lake. If you time your ceremony just right, you’ll even catch the most beautiful sunset reflecting off of the beautiful still water. Both of these ceremony sites can accommodate up to 200 guests.
For an indoor Thornewood Castle Wedding ceremony, you can make a grand entrance striding down the 500-year-old oak staircase. Meet your partner in front of a gorgeous sandstone fireplace flanked by stained glass windows. This elegant, cozy space is perfect for cooler months or inclement weather and can accommodate 125 guests.
Regarding your reception, you can celebrate outdoors on the Front Castle Lawn with views overlooking the lake. Your guests will love dining and dancing under the stars, or talk to their events team about your tent options (ideal for weddings of up to 200 guests.) The Ballroom is a stately option for an indoor ceremony. It has antique furnishings and architecture for a more formal, elegant aesthetic.
On your wedding day, you’ll have access to all of these spaces (and more) as the exclusive event of the day. So take your time deciding which spaces are best for your wedding; they’re at your disposal all day!

Thornewood Castle makes it easy to throw the wedding of your dreams. You can choose your caterer, though they can always provide you with a list of preferred vendors. You’re also allowed to bring in your own alcohol with a banquet permit, though they don’t allow hard liquor on the premises, only beer and wine.
